After struggling for a long period Faf du Plessis decided to step down from T20 and test captaincy.

While sharing reasons for his stepping down Du Plessis said that it was to prepare young coming lot for a leadership.

Faf du Plessis was rested for One-Day series against England, Quinton De Cock was selected as a captain, During the series Cricket South Africa director Graeme Smith said, that management wants De Cock to retain as a captain.

du Plessis said that it was one of the toughest decisions to make but I am keen to support De Cock and team management.
He said that the South Africa cricket team has just entered a new era, so there will be new leadership, new faces, and new strategies as well.

Faf further said that he is determined to represent South Africa in all formats and help a new leader from my captaincy experience.

He said that all in good and bad patches he was always fully devoted and he lead the team with honesty.
